What is mastering?
Mastering is the final step in the music production process
Your inspiration moved you to write a song. Your producer put brought the pieces together and you recorded the song. Your mixing engineer made the recording come to life. Now, your mastering engineer will make it sound AMAZING...
A true mastering engineer will be the final person to touch the song. After the final master is complete, the song is COMPLETE!
Mastering is objective
There is right and there is wrong. All subjective matter is thrown out the window and the mastering engineer will ensure that the correct steps are being taken to get your song to the best it could possibly be!
A professional master can absolutely transform a song.
Only with the proper equipment, a professionally trained ear, a sonically tuned room, and an objective listener can this be achieved.
MASTERING is the Icing on the cake
The mastering phase of the music production process is only 10% of the entire production.
This 10% will make or break your song.
Even the most beautifully crafted "cake" (ie: final mix) is only as good as the "icing" (ie: the master)
